Every home has one. Tidying mine became a small exercise in letting go.

Dead batteries, keys to doors that no longer exist, birthday cards from ten years ago. All in the same drawer.

What we keep without knowing why

I threw almost everything away. I kept three cards. The drawer closed easily for the first time in years.
