When birthdays come with a lot of reflections and what the hell is going on in my life thoughts.

Who said that birthdays come with a ton of reflections? well, me. Few weeks ago was my birthday, and with it, came all the what the hell I am doing with my life thoughts, so, I said to myself, maybe I should turn a lemon into a lemonade(a lemon being my thoughts and a lemonade being this article in case you didn't catch that), so I am going to share few of the lessons that I am learning in my ongoing twenties, in no particular order of importance. From adulthood, finances, friendships and everything in between.

Kindness is your biggest connection

We always talk about how important it is to make connections, specially in your 20's, because apparently you don't go anywhere or do anything, if your cousin, aunt is not something somewhere. But what we don't talk about enough is how people remember who makes them feel good, and I am not talking about, force yourself to be remembered, I am talking about how being a genuine and kind soul will make all the difference, it will make people remember you.

““It is the honesty of another man’s mind that moves the kindness of mine.””

No one will ever have the sense of urgency that you have about your life

In other words you are not the center of the universe, in another words (if you want more), your life is your responsibility. No one is coming to save you, not your partner, friends, not even your parents, it is your life, your controls. We spend time complaining about how unsatisfied we are about a specific part of our life, and we even ask for help, you notice that the help is not as fast as you wanted it to be. So sometimes you have to move those mountains by yourself to fix your life. The people we love can only go until a certain extent.

Just because you are kind, it does not mean that you have to people please

Everyone wants to keep this "I am a good person" image(myself included), but it is important to balance your kindness. If you, saying no to someone makes them get mad at you, maybe they were not yours to begin with. There are moments that you will have to say no to people, and maybe destroy your( he is a good person label) because protecting your peace is more important than maintaining a good reputation.

Financial illiteracy is not as cute as people make it seem

If you don’t educate yourself financially, life will find a way to teach you and it might not be cute. I started making money pretty early in life, but I lost a job very early as well, and telling a 22yo to save money for rainy days seems like an insult honestly, so I had to learn by myself that money emergencies happen. So learn how to budget, save, invest. Whatever works for you, but have money available for rainy days. Life happens and one of those days it might happen for you, and let me tell you, it is not fun to ask for money to pay for things that will not give you a return.

Just because people are aware of their actions does not mean that they know what they are doing

We hear this phrase all the time: "People know what they are doing", but do they really? some people are just clueless, so sometimes it is important to vocalize your discomfort towards how people treat you, it is important to set boundaries and express the way you feel.

You are allowed to work for a paycheck

We are sold this idea that we have to love what we do for a living, of course we do, however lets be honest, majority of people ended up in certain places by chance, in places were they didn’t envision primarily, most of us didn’t have any clue about the degrees we were choosing, the only question that we had in mind was, is it çended up not identifying theirselves with it, but still that’s what they do for work, so yes, it is okay to work in a job that you don’t like until you find your passion, just don’t let it consume you, don’t let it become your identity;
